What if I have existing brow tattoo?
If you are a client with existing brow tattoo, please contact us prior to scheduling an appointment. Any appointments made without consulting Spades Beauty is subjected to refusing the service.
Clients with oily skin?
If you have oily skin, Microshading (Soft powder look) is recommended. If you choose to have Microblading (Hairstroke look) done, there is a high chance it will turn into a solid look and may loose the hairstrokes.
Botox?
If you have or are planning on having Botox done, please schedule at least 4 weeks out from your Botox appointment. If you are planning on having Botox, please wait at least 6 weeks after your Microblade appointment.
I am a client who has used Acutane and/or Retin A within the last 12 months.
We recommend not using these products for at least 12 months before having Microblading done.
I am a client who is taking blood thinner or Omega.
We recommend not using these products for at least 30 days before your appointment.
I am a client who is pregnant.

Pigments may fade up to 30%-40% a couple weeks after the initial service. The true results are then revealed. Some clients may choose to go a little darker than what they normally do to compensate for the fading. However, some clients heal very well and may not fade. Its always best to stay conservative. Retouches are never included with the initial cost as some heals very well and does not want a retouch. Retouches start at $150.00 if done within the first 3 months after your initial service. Rates varies as time passes.
As artists, we use our best judgement to predict how the color of your brows will fade into. However, every under skin tone is different. This is important because pigments used can sometimes fade into an "ashy" or "warm" tone. Sometimes your skin may not absorb the pigments deposited and try to reject it. This can cause it to heal incorrectly. You will likely need a retouch to correct this. Keep in mind, retouches are NEVER included with the initial service.
All service is non refundable once service has been completed. All sales are final. If you'd like to voice your concern or opinions, you will need to contact us directly.

MicrobladE
What is it?
Microblading is a fairly new technique of cosmetic tattooing in the U.S. but has been around for a long time in Europe and Asia. This is a Semi-Permanent cosmetic tattoo lasting 12-18 months. This technique creates thin, precise and beautiful strokes to imitate our natural brows. Thus, providing the perfect solution to create natural looking brows. This is achieved by a small hand tool with very tiny micro-blades, giving the perfect hair-like strokes every time.
What's the difference between Microblade and Microshade?
This is also known as Ombre. The only thing that makes this similar to Microblading is that they both Semi-Permanent and are created by hand, with a hand tool. What makes this different is it offers a soft powdered effect. In French, the word “ombré” means “having tones of color that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark”. We will create a soft powdered effect starting near the nose bridge, working from light to dark, towards the brow tail. There are no hair strokes in the technique.
What if I like them both? Can I do both?
Yes! You can! Combining the Microblade and Microblade is actually our most popular service. This is our favorite look.
How long will it take?
Every client’s time will vary. It can take anywhere between 1.5-3 hours. Things worth having will take time!
Is there anything I should prepare for before getting microbladed?
Yes! Just like painting a room, there is prepping involved for best results. You will need to refrain from drinking alcohol, taking aspirin and any blood thinner 48 hours before your appointment.
Are retouches included?
Retouches are not included. They use to be included as a package at a higher cost. We like for our clients to determine whether they want a retouch or not.
Retouches are recommended at least 4-6 weeks after appointment.
Do most clients need to come in for a retouch?
About 60 percent will come back for a retouch.
What is cosmetic tattooing?
Cosmetic Tattooing is a type of semi permanent makeup. The experts implant a color pigment beneath the top skin layer with the help of micro sized needles. This process is performed mainly for eyebrows, lips and eyeliner. The aim is to create the effects of hair strokes, enhance the makeup effects and to brighten the entire aspects of facial features.
What is the difference between cosmetic tattooing and standard body tattooing?
- Difference No1: - The process of accentuating and pigment implantation for the three main facial areas in the eyeliner, eyebrows and the lips is called cosmetic tattooing. On the other hand body tattooing is the creation of design on any part of the body by the implantation of ink and dye.
- Difference No2:- Cosmetic tattooing enhances the natural color of your skin and hair. The chosen pigment color is very close to the skin tone (at least in most of the instances). On the other hand the color of ink and dye chosen for body tattooing need not be matching with the skin tone. The contrast can be clearly visible to brighten the effects of design.
- Difference No3:- Cosmetic Tattooing is a part of makeup process which appears as a part of the eyeliner, brow and the lips. On the other hand body tattooing is a body art which appears as a separate entity on your body.
- Difference No4:- Cosmetic tattooing pigment fades away with time. That means you need to redo it after a specific interval of time. This is just like the normal make up you apply on the external surface of the skin. But the makeup is implanted into the skin layers to make it last longer than the external makeup. On the other hand body tattooing is relatively permanent in nature. It can last for many years without fading away.
Does microblading hurt?
The microblading experts use an anesthetic cream for numbing the skin area around the brows. It reduces the pain significantly. Then the expert also uses a liquid form of the anesthetic to further intensify the numbing effects. The duration of the numbing depends on the concentration of the cream and the liquid used. It makes the process of microblading painless.
The healing of probable micro level wounds takes about 10 days. During this period the swelling subsides slowly. The expert advises the application of a healing moisturizer like Aquaphor in the morning and at night. It takes about a week for brows to achieve their new, natural color.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
The minimum age for tattooing is 18.
Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?
As a precaution, Erica does not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.
Can I get tattooed if I recently had Botox or other injectables?
As a precaution, I do not perform cosmetic tattooing on peoples who have received Botox or other injections less than 3 weeks before appointment.
How long does cosmetic tattooing last?
Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas.
Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.
Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring at least 2 visits. The initial procedure followed by a touch-up procedure about 2 months later. Previously tattooed areas will generally always require additional appointments.
How many treatments are needed?
For most clients, a minimum of two treatments are usually needed, at least 6-8 weeks apart. With most procedures, the color looks dramatically lighter after the first week. Some clients prefer this, while others opt for a bolder look. At the second treatment, we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary.
Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment.
What if I had a previously tattooed eyebrow?
In such instances you need to send a clear photograph of the previously tattooed brow to our email. We will be analyzing it to adopt the best possible method. Our aim will be to enhance the effects of tattooing which you found to have faded. The reason could also be the infectiveness of the previously performed work. But we will not be able to guarantee any kind of improvements. Before starting the treatment you need to get an explicit approval from our experts about the feasibility of working on your eyebrows to produce the effects you desire.
Which are the factors that influence the effectiveness (and duration) of cosmetic tattoo?
- Exposure to Sun /UV: - The effectiveness of the cosmetic tattoo will get affected to a great extent when the area is exposed to sun/UV. So you need to use the proper types of protection devices while going out. Do not expose the tattooed areas to sun/UV/heat and humidity. You may use a sunscreen lotion or cream, use a large goggle, and use a blocking cap or any other protective device.
- New skin cells: - The effects of cosmetic tattooing can fade away faster with the growth of new skin cells. This can also happen when the brow hair loss occurs. The effectiveness can also get reduced due to the growth of new hair in the brow.
- Absorption rate: - If the absorption rate of the pigment by the skin layers is slow, the pigment retention period will correspondingly increase.
- Color Intensity: - Darker colors can stay for longer period compared to lighter colors.
- Treatment Area: - Enhancements to the face, for example, fade more quickly due to constant exposure.
- Bleeding during the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Alcohol and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should not be taken prior to and following your appointment.
What should I do before my eyebrow procedure?
- Know your preference and needs: - You should be clear about your needs and expectations from our eyebrow procedure. If you have any samples or photograph you can send it to us by email or bring them with you when you visit us.
- Regular makeup: - You may go ahead with your normal brow makeup procedures without any sort of hesitation. You may get them shaped, waxed, filled, tinted or threaded. But all of them have to be done 3 days before your appointment with us.
- Vacation: - If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
- Medication: - We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure
- Alcohol and Caffeine: - Do not drink any alcohol the night before and day of your appointment and NO caffeine the day.
- Sun Tan/Sunburns: - It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.
How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?
- After Treatment Impact: - During the initial days the impact of brow effects will be the highest. The effects start fading with time. The duration of fading depends on the factors like intensity and nature of color, treatment area, exposure to sun/UV, growth of hair and skin cells, loss of brow hair etc.
- Healing: - The speed of healing and recovery depends on the intensity of swelling sustained during the treatment. Our experts at Spades Beauty Bar will make every effort to reduce the pain and the swelling intensity during the treatment. . Please view our detailed aftercare instructions here.
How will my cosmetic tattoo look in the future?
- Analysis and tests: - In the first stage we analyze your skin, brow, eyes and other facial conditions before we begin our treatment procedures. Our experts perform the initial tests by mixing various combinations of pigments and applying them in small dosage. We will choose the best approach the pigment combination based on the results we get from the testing. Once we have reached this stage, we are confident of our procedures and the expected results in the long run.
- Application: - The actual application procedure starts after the testing. Here we ensure the right combination of pigments and procedures to produce the best effects that last for 1 to 3 years.
- Follow up: - We recommend you to have follow-up appointments with our experts after the completion of treatment. This will help us in analyzing the nature of after-care procedures to be followed. We prescribe certain procedures of using after-care products. All you need to do is follow the instructions.
- Duration: - The majority of our clients’ cosmetic tattoos stays true to color and lightens naturally over time. There are some cases, however, where colors may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the pigments (like lifestyle and iron deficiencies). Many factors affect these changes. At your follow up appointment, we will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color. Special formula alteration to correct the color and to prevent further color change is made at this time. Your eyebrow tattoo will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. This happens with all clients as the skin ages. To keep your hair strokes looking good, a refresher appointment is suggested every 1 to 2 years. Results vary with each client.
What should I know about long term care?
- Protection: - Your primary task is to protect the brows and the enhancements from external damages. You can do so by using the proper measures like the sunscreen and UV blocking devices. You may use caps, goggles and other protectors.
- Sustenance: - This is our priority to sustain the post treatment effects over long time. We take care of all the measures to retain the intensity, beauty and other enhancement factors. For this we advise you on the post-care procedures to be adopted at home. IF you are able to follow the instructions clearly, you will be able sustain the beauty and elegance of our work for 1 – 3 years without any problems at all.
- Fading Speed: - The primary factors which affect the fading speed are skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color and broken capillaries. The other factors could be the chemical peels to which you expose your skin after the treatment at Spades Beauty Bar. We recommend you avoid such exposures which could be harmful to your skin and the quality of the pigments.
- Chemical Peels: - If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area
Will cosmetic tattooing work well for me?
The answer to this question depends on many parameters including your skin condition, density of hair and your lifestyle.
- Skin Condition: - Oily skin is considered to be highly negative condition for our brow care treatments. This is owing to the faster fading of the pigment from the skin layers. The other problem is associated with the softening of hair and skin layers. This could result in faster fading of the pigment. Hence it is very important for you to consult our experts before taking up the brow treatment procedures.
- Thin Hair: - According to our experts at Spades Beauty Bar, you need to have minimum brow hair thickness. If your brow hair conditions are not according to the minimum requirements, you might not qualify for the brow care treatment procedures. Schedule an appoint with our consultants to get the right kind of advice.
